Q. What is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

A. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (commonly known as DofE) is an achievement focused programme for young people aged 14-25

years. It has 3 levels, Bronze (minimum age at entry 14 years), Silver (minimum age at entry 15 years) and Gold (minimum age at

entry 16 years). There are four sections at Bronze and Silver levels:

Volunteering, SkillPhysicalExpedition.

Gold level participants undertake these four sections plus a residential.

Q. What part of the Award does ORB deliver?

A. As an Accredited Activity Provider for the DofE ORB delivers the expedition section of the Award. We can:

Provide support to establishments (schools, youth groups and organisations and individuals) in the expedition component of the Award.Deliver the expedition training and assessment for all levels of the Award.Provide leadership training, guidance and support for your team of trainers/assessors in their delivery of the Award expeditions section.Provide training and assessment in National Governing Body leadership awards in disciplines related to the expedition section (Hillwalking, Canoeing and Cycling).Provide opportunities for more remote and exciting expeditions including overseas expeditions.

Q. How do I get involved with ORB?

A. Two ways:

Contact ORB direct as an individual to take part in one of our exciting ‘open awards which are delivered at home and abroad. Make your DofE group leader aware of ORB and ask them to contact us about opportunities you and your group would like to be involved in.
